Elise report - 2 months of ownership.

S1 elise report.
Ahhh yes, has it only been 2 months?!
Problems:
-Number plate fell off, obviously need to glue it on at the front rather than screwing it to the front of a bit of plastic!
-Car would not start, think ECU needed reminding what RPM it needed to idle at. After producing the famed 5 pedal/electrics trick it was fine.
-Clutch pedal sqeaked, very annoying when top down driving, fixed with silicon lub spray from Halfords. WD40 not recommended.
-Car rolled away with handbrake on, own fault as previously that day had driven for a mile with handbrake on (not too effective!). Always left car in gear after that, since fixed by Sinclares.
-Chased a friend in a Boxster, the Lotus went around a corner faster (even with fancy porsche electronics), accelerated better but never got near him after 80mph. Should have bought a 111s.
-Stone chips on front clam are gathered at an amazing rate. But in defence, my old S2000 had more annoying windscreen chips than I care to remember.
Summary:
Great car, best 10k I have ever spent. As had been said before though, I can confirm:
-The basic S1 is too slow, my S2000 was faster
-Hard to get in and out of
-Noisey! - The bad kind, unless a good exhaust is fitted
IMHO, have it as a second car. Slides very easily when wet (confirmed!), also it seems to be a bit more special when not driven every day, you then appreciate what a good car the lotus elise is.
Looking ahead I aim to, increase the BHP to something useful, also looking to buy another car for comfort and useability, M3 is what I am currently considering.
Attention and exclusivity is what I experience with the Lotus, with handling that is truely addictive. More track car than road car, and that is where it will be heading.
phew!, time for a coffee.

The post raises the question
"What is the best companion car for the elise?" another (less funny) sportcar?
something more comfy? Diesel, automatic, SMG,....?
Personnally, I would prefer something very different...
Skyline R34 GT-R - totally practical, 4wd and absurdly fast. I'll have one in Black with yellow brembo's please.

They summed it up in the last EVO long term special when they went to France.
Perfect 2 car garage Exige and Ferrari 550.
Getting the Exige on Saturday, now all I have to do is persuade the Old Man to swap the 456 for a 550
You lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, luuuuucky barsteward!
