My insurance company have asked me to send them a certificate to prove that my car has a Thatcham CAT 1 alarm/imobiliser. I've looked through all the paperwork that came with the car and all I can find is a receipt for fitment of the system. Its a Clifford Concept 50 - does anyone know if this is a CAT 1 system? I was told that I'd have to take the car to an alarm specialist to get something in writing - does anyone know of a Clifford dealer in the Oxford area?

If you look on the Thatcham web site www.thatcham.org I think they used to have a pdf file of all approved systems. When I got my current cat I sent the insurance company a copy of the fitting certificate and the listing and they were happy.

Cheers,
JSG.

Hi andy,

Both myself and Phil, a member of my team, have Clifford systems fitted by Marston Autoparts 01865 761668, Marston, Oxford. We both have Porsches.

They have a separate section for audio and alarm fittment. They are very knowledgeable, carefull with cars etc. In short, they are recommended by us.

Andy

When I bought my TVR, it came with a fax from TVR certifying the Thatcham Cat alarm fitted at manufacture. It was a standard fax, nothing peronalised for me. Try a dealer, they should be able to help with something similar.

You need to get an approved dealer to inspect and issue a certificate if the original is lost.
Some don't require the cert but will check should you make a claim.
Or so I have benn told in the past

I not thinking straight this morning.

Andy, If its a Clifford Model 50x Concept - then yes its a CAT 1 system.

This is what I have on my car, the total enclosure type with adjustable zones.

Talk to Marston Autoparts, they would be able to inspect and issue a report for insurance purpose.
