Back in the market for another used Motorhome after a 5 year break.

We had an 06 Autotrail Scout SE, which was pretty much perfect (rear lounge - we like to play a game of cards/dominos at night, dining area to the front etc). The thing that let it down was the weight; it was over the 3500kg limit, so it restricted us who could drive it.

Anyway we're after a similar layout, but as a 4 Berth instead, hoping it will weigh in at less than 3500kg. I've had a look, but everything seems to have a fixed bed now, which really don't suit our needs.

Has anyone got any recommendations (and no, we're not going to pack in playing cards! tongue out )?

Depending on what sort of aged MH you want the older ones are more likely to offer the U shaped Lou fe and dinette area.

We have a 1996 Swift Royale 630. Pretty rare now but it is brilliant. 3500kg.

I think the Autotrail Apaches come in a 3500 kg version.
Very similar to the Scout layout just a bit smaller.

Hymer B534?
Rear-U, drop-down double over the cab, and 3.5 tonnes

Ha, funny you say that as I’m sat in the rear lounge of my 534 as I type this!

Not sure if it’ll suit the OP though as only 2 berth? Other than that I’d highly recommend one BUT they are a bit tight on payload at 3.5 tonne, we’ve up plated to 3860 for a bit more headroom..

Burstner do a couple - Ixeo I744 & Lyseo TD744, both with front dining, rear sitting rooms & drop down beds above both areas. Haven't tried one, beyond a poke around at the NEC show. Seem high quality & chatted to a couple who'd had one for a few months & loved it. Always a few on Autotrader:

I think Frankia might also do some but not 100% sure.

Good hunting, CF

Sorry - I hadn't realised that I had any replies to this thread - thought it had dropped off the front page without any response!

I was hoping there was something out there that was lowline/low profile, as the bit over the cab wouldn't be used and would potentially help with both keeping the weight down and with the added bonus of improving fuel economy.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway - I'll take a look!

p.s. Budget wise, I'm looking around the £30k-£40k mark
