Planning a trip to California next year, thinking drive San Francisco to LA and maybe Grand Canyon / Las Vegas. Still in the very early stages of planning.

We have just spent 7 weeks in Aus and NZ and had to endure Toyota Corollas and a Camry. My car is a MB E350. So I didn't enjoy the cars, so much so that I have vowed never to drive another Japanese/ Korean car again!
But looking at US car hire this is all they seem to have or a Ford Fusion which I think maybe a Ford Mondeo,;that would be OK but does anywhere hire American cars?
Doesn't have to be a huge barge or a muscle car. Something the size of the E Class would be ideal, must be comfortable. Only two of us travelling so don't need a minivan.
Any suggestions?

I would imagine companies like avis, alamo, hertz have a huge selection, i know in Florida they do. Everything from focus's to range rovers, escalades, corvettes, porsche and lots of other fairly interesting stuff. May be worth checking their websites.

You can hire anything you want in the US, it just might cost more.

Cadillac CTS might suit.
Will have a look tomorrow when I have consumed less (no) wine!

Pickup truck. We rented one through Hertz before, doing it again this year. They’re normally click for quote so sit at the bottom of the results but they’re pretty cheap (we’re paying $30/day in October) and they’re as American as American gets.
