Audi A4 All Road - Clutch Judder
Discussion
I am looking to purchase a replacement car for my wife. We have had a 57 plate Audi A6 avant for a while now and whilst its a good car, it is getting old with 140k miles on the clock.
I have seen the Audi A4 all road which is a nice size and have found a good example for sale in scotland. The owner tells me that on occasion and when cold the clutch can be juddery. Any ideas what this is? I am concerned as my father in law bought an A4 which had similar and it turned out to need a clutch and flywheel at considerable cost.
Highlan Audi have commented that the juddering can be felt, but is within specification. I dont want to spend my savings on the car only to have to fork out for a new clutch and flywheel. they will provide a PPI which covers a road test, but will not be liable for anything found after the sale is complete.
Any advice appreciated.

Could be a few things.
They are electronically adjusted clutches I believe, and sometimes can not be quite as smooth as you expect.
When cold the torque of the engine is reduced anyway, to protect the clutch and DMF, which could in theory lead to juddering.
Mine has been juddery at times for the last 90,000 miles and is still on the original clutch now at over 160k. Make of that what you will - it could be the clutch on its way out, or it could be nothing. If the rest of the car is right, and the money is right, might still be worth having a look at.
