My E46 M3 is due the dreaded Insp II service this month and having done a bit of calling around, CPC in Amersham seem to be well regarding and competitively priced. Has anyone got recent experience of these guys for their M3s?

Not for E46, but Phil at CPC has undertaken work on my E39 M5 and E93, excellent service..

Phil also did some work on my old 335i. Really nice chap and deserves the reputation.

There's usually a nice smattering of old BMWs and Alpinas in the car park.

They are so slow which is probably why the carpark is rammed with cars. Cars sit there for months. A friend recently took them a gearbox and diff and it took 4 weeks before they fitted the diff, the gearbox then keeps popping out of gear.

Another friends BMW E21 must have been there for at least 6 months if not more.

Not my first choice.

I've been taking my E39 (530i) to them on and off for many years now.

I really struggle with the communication aspect. Phil is the main reference point for everything but its virtually impossible to get him on the phone. Anjali (secretary) is absolutely clueless abouts cars so can only relay messages, so even the simplest things take like 5 calls to sort out. To be fair at least she emails and calls back.

The quality of their work is generally reliable, although they missed out some stuff for me last week.

TBH, I've really struggled to find a BMW specialist I can work with. Have tried Birds, Technosport and A1BM but each one had issues. Not had this problem with my other brand cars. So frustrating, puts me off getting another BMW...

CPC are good, but It does take ages to get hold of Phil.
Try DMWorx in Stoke Mandeville (just outside Aylesbury) - about 20 mins walk from me.

Ask for Russell, he knows his stuff, and always has M3s in there, but they are all knowledgeable chaps.
Reasonable labour rates - £60/hr
I’ve no link to them, just a happy customer.
Close to the railway station, and a nice pub nearby.

A lot of the CSL owners use Bartlett Automotive in Huntingdon, but maybe that is a bit too far away.

I used them for my E39 M5 vanos units a few years back.

Hard to get hold of for updates, took longer to complete the work than expected and they damaged a bolt when removing the top engine cover (only a couple of £ item) which they could have easily replaced but didn’t even bother to. Bearing in mind I paid a not to small sum to get this work done that really left a bitter taste, just take some pride in your work.

Personally, I wouldn’t touch them again with a barge pole.

I've CPC but my garage of choice is DM Worx in Stoke Mandeville (Aylesbury). My E60 M5 is booked in with them in two weeks time. Handy having a good indy 15 mins away.

Indeed!

Experience of Bexley Motor Works (still going?) Munich Legends, Birds and CPC. Wasn't 100% happy with any of the work quality. (Or some of the very inflated "M tax" prices!)

Only E30 M3 specialists I had any time for was C3, at the time in Penge. (Though I understand they are near Brands Hatch now?) And for panel work, Impact Bodywork in Sussex

Darren Wood looked after my E46 M3 and were spot on. Also seem to have a good rep in general.
