Yopu remember that message about your call being recorded "for your security?"

Call again, explain the problem, ask nicely for a full refund and see what happens. Make sure you get as fuller name as they will give and log the time and date of the call.

No joy?

Write to them explaining the problem and the above call. Advise them to check their records. This time tell them that you expect a full refund immediatly and would also suggest that they offerd some form of compensation due to the additional work you have had to undertake and stress they have caused you by failing to observe the terms of their contract with you.

No joy? let me know!

Yep, had a conversation with the same company two days ago because they had been charging me insurance for 6 months, despite a letter being sent in Jan requesting cancellation, and despite the reciept of letter being put on my account notes!

Got two months back, the billing has changed over from S** P*** recently and they were crap, This phone comapny cannot refund money paid to S**** P**** it seems..

The correct reply to this is along the lines of I don't give a sh1t if you didn't take my money, when you took over S**** P**** assets you also took on their liabilities. Now either pay up and then you can reclaim it from S*** P*** yourselves or lose a customer and wait for the complaint to come in from OFTEL (or whoever they are this week)

Not sure if this is correct but beats trailing through the paperwork to check first. If there is still no joy then you need to read the fine print and chase S**** P****

Lots of these people are small minded and think that if you make it hard people will just go "oh well it was only £70" A lot of the time it works. Other times they get people like me when I feel the need for a 'cause' coming on.

Putting pen to paper is a good move. I recently re-newed my insurance on my phone, 40 quid for a year (didnt want hassle of paying monthly) it was via the Link. 3 weeks later I got an upgrade from my ISP O2 one to one, so I called the Link back to transfer the insurance to my upgrade only to be told that as they didnt supply the phone they couldnt insure it.

No probs I said, just refund the 40 quid, and I will go elsewhere, "Sorry sir we dont do refunds after 21 days", (they were happy to insure the new phone though at even more dosh). I explained that if I had chosed to pay monghly I could have just stopped the monthly payments, "Correct" she said, but they couldnt refund the lump sum payment of 40 quid after 21 days.......

Following a polite, but firm letter, I got a full refund. Good luck mate...

Always cover yourself for highly unlikely eventuality that they 'forget'() to cancel your contract and cancel the direct debit yourself...

How about a letter to your bank re the 'Direct Debit guarantee' angle? V/fone will cling on to your money for grim death; the bank should be more neutral, nay on your side.

I pay insurance on my phone to a company that has a similair name to a round, tasty citrus fruit, the juice of which is a common brekky drinky. Orange juice its called.

Anyway, if you phone goes iffy, no problem, they will exchange it, but want a £15 admin fee, cheeky little blighters. If you tell them that they are liable, they say, OK send the phone back to us and we will send it to Nokia to fix. Might be a week or two..

Can't seem to get round it, so I put up with the fault until a couple of weeks before my contract was up, sent it back, paid the £15 admin fee and got a new phone.

I am using an old phone whilst I flog the new (and unused) one on Ebay. I'll get another new phone when my contract is up in a few days.

Smartarses.

i dont know the exact workings of V/fones refund system. but i would be very surprised if you cant get a full refund for the insurance after the date of cancellation, given a few calls and a letter.

I walked through a river with my brand new nokia 6630 in my pocket

Was obviously gutted, but when you can go to websites like www.gizmo-direct.com insurance isn't a necessity!

I've recently moved my mobile from the company who sponser MUFC to the company who sponser Arsenal due to constant, scams to try and trick me out of pocket, even when i cancelled the contract (and recieved confirmation) they still continued to charge me for the following 2 months "in advance".

A nice letter was in order methought, and all is well now
