is there any way for a dealer to check clutch wear (or remaining life) when the car is in for a service ?

I’m looking at the purchase of a V10 manual which has done c.45k miles, and no paperwork suggesting the clutch has been changed.

I understand this is a big job (£6k from Audi ?) and so just a little concerned that i am likely to face a big bill in the next few 100s of Miles.

So wondering
A) can clutch wear be checked ?
B) am i correct to think it’s a £6k job ?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Unsure if you can definitely get it this way, but if it's possible it'll be available from a diagnostic reading using Vagcom.

You can buy the units yourself (several hundred quid) or any Audi service centre should have one but they'll charge for it.

Yes, clutch is about that price, possibly a little cheaper at £4/5k.

Thanks. I’ve read that the diagnostic readout isn’t necessarily reliable ?

Afaik, there is no method available for checking clutch wear of a manual in situ.

That was my fear. Given there is no evidence of it having been done, I guess will need to just take a view that it will need doing. I imagine @ 45k miles it’s a likely near term requirement...
