Importing Track Car from UK to US

After umpteen internet and PH searches I haven't found an answer for this, so apologies if this has already been covered.
I'm considering a move to the US and would like to understand whether it would be possible to import my E46 M3 clubsport spec car into California. It has a safety devices half cage and recaro profile SPGs which could be the main stumbling blocks to importing the car.
Understanding the other option is to buy an E46 M3 in the US and start the build again, but the cheapest E46 is $15k as a starting base. My car has had everything done including Vanos, head gasket, shells, full CSL suspension, CSL bootlid etc etc.

Looks like the key question is was your car originally manufactured as a race only car.
