Just taken the car for it's first drive of the year, binding rear disc now fixed and a battery warning. Battery has been on a Cteck and now dramas on starting up. A few minutes into the drive I got a battery warning at 11.3v, driving increased the voltage to 13.2 but then fell again as the revs drop. So alternator is charging and I believe the battery is fubar but haven't ruled out anything else.

What is the latest battery recommendation as it is at least 5 years old.

Need to book in for a service as well.

Battery is probably getting passed it.

However, check the 100Amp fuse adjacent to starter motor. Voltage description in your post sets my alarm bells ringing.

You need to physically remove the (old) strip type fuse as they are prone to hairline cracks which are difficult to see in situ, but by undoing the retaining nuts, the fuse disintegrates.

Nick.

General consensus on a good battery seems to be the OPTIMA RED TOP RTS 4.2

I've always used Bosch , can't remember the number but two variants , so the +ive is away from the chassis rail.
