Dialup access

I`m sitting in a hotel on the cote d`azur. All they have is dialup :rolleyes: I`d forgotten just how bloody slow it is! Picture threads are a complete pain.

Which regular PHers still use this technology?

Only when at home - serious PITA.

When i move one of the first tings i'll be doing is sorting out Broadband

(Obviously PH'ers are a pretty techno savvy bunch.)

sometimes have to use dialup when at a clients site. Usually we ask the network guys to open a port on the firewall so we can VPN out & have a decent bandwidth.

I changed to BB exactly BECAUSE of PH!

Only time i use dialup is via GPRS on my IPAQ for mobile PHing. All the other times its either high speed work link or 2mb home broadband

I still use it!

(And am moving house, and BB is top of my "Must Have" list for that day ... )

I use dial up at home and it drives me mad.

Especially as AOL seem to have made the connection worse (get disconnected every 20 mins or so).

My other half has broadband in the house, but has not suggested sharing the connection.

Why not "treat" them to a wireless modem router and NIC (Currys are currently doing a D Link kit for £70 which has a USB dongle included, so you are up and running straight away.)

Then we they forget to change the SSID, all you need is a wireless NIC of your own to access it

It's not as if it is going to cost any more!!!
