Ive got a 61 plate DSG Golf Match 1.6 Blue motion. Very good nick I'd say, 59000 on it. Service history.

On autotrader it pops up £5300 whn I ask it for a vauation, I assumed this was part/ex valuation but it may be private sale.

Been to look at a few cars in dealers recently. an independent dealer offering a 15 plate Golf 1.4. TSi DSG for £12,500, offered me £4500 to £5000 for mine.

Looked at a 2018 Peugeot 308 at a main dealers, 10,000 on it for £12,300 and the spotty oik, sorry, dealer, offered me £4000 for mine. wtf.

So I would be interested to know an "official" book value for mine part/ex if anyone can help?

Thanks

EDIT: Just noticed a "car buying" sub forum, would this be better in there?

Recently sold my 2008 bmw, 83kmiles hard too convertible fully loaded etc, pArt ex I was being offered around the 4.5k mark, what a joke, can’t buy a feista for that money, advertised on autotrader for still a cheap price of 6.5k as a quick sale, it sold within a few days, the first people to view bought it. Point of the story part value always going to be ridiculously low.

I've put a screen shot below, basic value for your car in average condition with average mileage is £4710.
As yours is below average mileage it gives a mileage adjustment of £440 so that leaves an updated value of £5150.
In this situation, where I work we would look at actual retail values of similar vehicles to see if the retail value is really reflected by £440 or not but we would be looking at a value between £4750-£5000 if you were looking at a vehicle with us.
The offer of £4000 isn't really fair unless your car is in rather poor condition.

Thanks a lot jsims!

He reckoned my wheels need refurbishing. They have some minor scratches on on some but are not kerbed and to me are not bad.

I may go down the privte sale route.

The cheesy trade line on book figures - "it's guide, not gospel". They don't dictate the value and merely give a starting price (and a barometer).
