Electric Woes!

Like an idiot when replacing rear wings, did not dawn on me to just unplug the lighting wiring plug from inside the bodywork, so snipped wires to get wing off!!
Just been trying to reconnect with some soldering and no lights working.
Put a multimeter onto wires- red to wire- black on bodywork to earth?? But no reading except occasionally on one of the wires but no others?
Any ideas? Fuses all checked and ok and did disconnect battery before the snipping!
