Golf R estate wheel fitment
Discussion
I'm looking for help to find out if the alloys off my outgoing mk5 golf can be used for winter wheels on my new golf.
The alloys off my golf gt tdi 140 (2007) - are 17s, will they fit my incoming golf R estate (2016)?
I've looked at wheel-size.com, and can see that that year of mk5 is listed as:
225/45R17 7Jx17 ET54 5x112
for the golf R they're listed as:
225/40ZR18 7.5Jx18 ET51 5x112
Will those 17's clear the brakes etc?
Under the golf R section they have the size listed: 205/50R17 6Jx17 ET48 5x112 - which I assume is for winters? but this is clearly different from the 17's off my old golf.
I've no idea about offset etc, so any help would be fantastic. thanks

You'll probably just have to try it.
I had 17" Audi TT wheels for winters on my MK2 TTS.
I kept them hoping they'd fit my new Leon Cupra.
They didn't clear the brakes on my Leon, which almost certainly has the same brakes as the Golf R.
Apparently some 17" wheels do fit so it's going to be very dependent on shape and offset.
