Alfa 916 GTV- any advice?
Discussion
The following advert has caught my eye. I would also add I have zero mechanical knowledge so apologies if the question is a bit dim!
I’ve no real long term ownership ambitions, I just fancy running a busso as a 2nd car over the summer to scratch an itch.
The car (eBay item number:372586633629) had a massive MOT fail in 2016.
The list is long, but of most concern is extensive corrosion to the sub frame and front chassis.
I’m worried as the dealer states it’s been under sealed, hopefully after the corrosion issue.
It’s since passed 2 MOT’s, the last one with only an advisory for slight corrosion on the offside front subframe support. Hence I’m thinking it is starting to rot again or it wasn’t fixed properly in the first place.
Is it possible to under seal to the point of masking the corrosion to get it through an MOT and it’s merrily rotting away underneath still?
Any other pointers to purchase a good one gratefully received.

I love these cars, and the busso engine is a legend.
As you've seen, that car would have had some extensive welding done.
My only advice is to pay a decent mechanic to go along with you. No other way of telling how well it's been done.
Mot testers don't go bashing cars underneath with screwdrivers like they used to, so in answer to your question, yes, rust can be easily covered up with a quick skim of filler and waxoil over the top.
Personally I'd find a better example for more money, pretty much any Alfa with the busso would be a reasonable investment if maintained in good order.
Happy hunting.

Cheers for the advice.
I went and had a quick once over of it.
It’s generally not too shabby from the outside, but I think I won’t take the risk of the underside.
As I wouldn’t be looking to keep it long term I think the MOT horror story in 2016 (circa 15 odd fails and advisories!) could possibly make it hard to shift on.
Hence, upped the budget and I’ll look for a better one!
