Any recommendations for great driving roads with the odd coffee shop / cafe on route near Manchester / Trafford / Worsley etc?

Got the day family free tomorrow so was going to take the new 992 for a spin somewhere.

Peaks one side, North Wales the other, and the lakes to the north. Take your pick.

Perhaps a little far for you...

Roads between Whaley bridge and Leek (via Buxton) are some of the best roads around here

Cat and fiddle is also good (but full of average speed cameras)

You could head up the M6 to the Tickled Trout, off and across towards Ribchester and through the Forest of Bowland.

The actual roads in Manchester are horrible so I'd get out and go into the Peaks.
