Yes, great race. Very tense - partly due to the current tyre regs. If Alonso hadn't have been nursing those tyres it might have been slightly different.

Renault messed it up imho. Looks like they went from competing with Kimi to having to struggle to hold place.

great race and good commentary by Button. Spotted things early (like Barichello speeding)

And top marks to ITV and Monaco TV for not missing most of the action - as there was lots going on. ITV seem to have taken their mistake at Imola to heart and made sure the last 17 laps were viewed uninterrupted. Maybe all those e-mails worked after all.

Allen & Brundle both discounted the 1 stop Renault strategy. Time & again Allen referred to what would happen when Alonso pitted next. Jensen & Ted, however, did have it sussed.

Is there anything wrong with the way Alonso went off the track to avoid being passed by the BMW? in that corner after the tunnel?

To use football parlance. It looked like a “Play On” situation.

Red Bull pitstop with mechanics dressed as Imperial Stormtroopers -- BRILLIANT!!!!!!!

just imagining the car to pit radio

"these are not the tyres I'm looking for!"

"these are not the tyres he's looking for, let him go"

I was under the impression there was a drive-through penalty awarded to drivers who crossed the blend line on exiting the pit lane, has this now changed or was it 'one rule for everybody else..........'?

It was a great race im actually enjoying this season i think i have watched more of the race this season than i did for the whole of last season. Jenson did a good job in the commentry box it was nice to get an idea of what the driver were thinking/feeling during the race

Yup - thoroughly enjoyed watching the race, great fun!

What did annoy me though was regarding the whole adverts thing. Yup, they messed up at Imola - but now, with 17 laps to go the cock says "uninterrupted coverage, right to the end"....like they're doing us a favour! The result? Adverts every (which felt like) 5 mins for the first 40 laps to be able to get the final 'uninterrupted' viewing. Yes, all the e-mails did work, but you wish they just said sorry and that it won't happen again!

Anyway, that's detracting from a brilliant thread and race. Jenson's commentary was awesome insight - just a shame he can't always do it!

It was great to get a current driver in the box. Back in 1980 and again in 1997 when Hunt and Brundle became "expert" commentators for BBC and ITV respectively, they were boith very good in that they were "current generaton" drivers. As time went on, however, they both became remote from the current scene. How many of the current bunch of F1 drivers drove alongside Brundle - Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard and Rubens Barrichello probably? I still think Brundle is the best bit of ITV's coverage, but as time goes by he will increasingly lose touch with the "driver's insight" side of things as the car, drivers and circuits continuously evolve.
