These cliches really work for me
Absolutely, and the fat lady isn’t going to sing about them if I have my say. At first I wasn’t into cliches, but now, after a steep learning curve, they are really starting to kick in! Any one who doesn’t agree should wake up and smell the coffee, and get a life as well. Are we on the same page here?

I think we should run this thread up the flagpole and see who salutes it ...

Clichés: each of them makes something easier, but all of them together make things very complicated

No one owns clichés

Clichés are never new

Clichés sound better in a foreign language

A cliché just describes the feeling or the pretended feeling, it does not change it

There is truth in every cliché

Avoid cliches like the plague

Right...

Just wanted to touch base on this cliche thing. We are all certainly square in the zone as far as the topic. Maybe we could flesh out this whole topic and broaden the horizons of some of the newbies that don't get it. Perhaps we could go the extra mile and verbalize the meanings for these new folks. It would certainly be a value added benefit of posting in Pistonheads.

Well, the ball is in your court. If we talk the talk, we should walk the walk...

Just my 0.02 (pence or cents - take your pick)

Chaps, you're all missing the point, and as someone once said, a miss is as good as a mile... What's the point in picking up a rifle if the barn door is edge-on, so to speak?

The case in point is based on an erroneous supposition that we are discussing clichés. As a point of order, the majority of items listed have been metaphors.

So, people, getting down to brass tacks, lets get the descrptors and nouns correct, lets dot the i's and cross the t's, because this is England, the home of the English language, and at the end of the day, we all need to be pulling in the same direction.

Where the rubber hits the road, we are the last, final, and only, defence!

Not sure on the points made here......

I think we need to make a straw man and run it up the flagpole and see if it flies.

Cliches are fine, but you can only lead a horse to water, you can't make it drink.
