Aston Vantage loss of Instrument power
Discussion
I have recently bought a 2011 V8 Vantage 4.7 with 29,000 on the clock. It's great BUT randomly, after a series of warning bongs, I lose ALL my instruments - speedo, tacho, fuel, temp - all go to zero; the radio volume can't be controlled, the winker don't work (but thank goodness headlights stay on at night)! The problem resolves itself after a minute or two, followed by a single bong.
I was advised to get a new battery (done) and to use a battery conditioner every night (done) but still get the issue.
This electrical shutdown must surely be an Aston 'programmed response' to some specific condition. Can anybody help me? Thanks

The roof module is connected via the CAN system this links a lot of the control modules in the car, when it goes wrong it sends out incorrect information which corrupts the other modules.
The roof module is located above the rear right hand wheel arch and can be accessed by removing the wheel arch liner and removing a panel secured by 4 bolts.

It has been said that you can access the module from inside the boot which allows you to disconnect it resolving any issues, but it is very difficult to replace it this way.

Highly likely to be the roof control module as others have advised - it's quite common. If you try removing the fuse for the roof control module, the fault should go away (obviously you wont be able to use the roof, but it helps pinpoint the fault). It's one of the fuses under the passenger side carpet in the footwell....from memory it was Fuse 10, but check the handbook!
In terms of replacement, I found it easier to remove the carpet trims in the boot and reach in above the driver's side wheel arch, unplug it, and then plug in the replacement. They're £600 new, though I got a discount on this from the main dealer. It seems to be hit and miss as to whether it then needs to be "flashed" /coded to the car. Mine didn't - it worked as soon as plugged in, and no repeat of the issues.

Thanks again - really helpful. My handbook has -
Cabin fuse F46=Driver info/master lamp/glove box relay/master lock switch/boot release/engine bay fuse box/hands-free phone/CCM switcher/convertible roof module (roadster), so I daren't pull that one...
Cabin fuse F69=Convertible roof module (Roadster), so maybe that one...
Boot fuse F10=Convertible roof module (Roadster), so maybe that one..
Boot fuse F11=Tonneau lid module (Roadster)....?
Boot fuse F20=Tonneau lid module (Roadster)....?
You remembered an F10 - and it looks relevant - but it's in the Boot set, not the cabin..
Maybe pull F69 and F10, F11 and F20...?

Cabin fuse box
Fuse 46 5amp supplies power to the roof switch, that then signals Roof Control Module to either put the roof up or down.
Fuse 69 5amp supplies a wake-up signal to the Roof Control Module.
Boot fuse box
Fuse 11 10amp supplies power to Tonneau Lid Latch Controller, this powers the Tonneau Latches
Fuse 1 5amp supplies power to Tonneau Lid Latch Controller, this supplies power to close relays for Tonneau Latches
Fuse 20 20amp splits to two stand alone fuses both 10amp, these supply power to the Tonneau lid solenoids.
Fuse 16 30amp supplies power to the hydraulic pump
Fuse 10 30 amp supplies power to the Roof Control Module

An old post I know but I have just removed fuse 69 and everything is working again accept the roof will not go up or down and the windows don't drop slightly when I open the doors. Looks like I'll be ordering a new roof control module thank you for the guys above on this post for helping me diagnose my problem I presume my Windows will start working again properly when I get the new unit
