S1 is ready for pads. I might as well renew the disks as well.

I use the car daily to commute along 15 miles of fun B roads. No track days.

I have experienced brake fade whilst travelling “enthusiastically” to work, so I’m thinking of upgrading.

If I upgrade what do I buy and where from?

I have a good mechanic as a good friend so I’m not planning to use the main dealer.

Mintex 1144 or EBC Greenstuff at the budget end. Pagids at the top end.

New kid on the block (for Elises anyway) is SBS. Cheaper than Pagids by 20-25% but some say as good. I've just had some SBS Protrack fitted (+ braided hoses, new fluid) and the car stops like never before. Better than Greenstuff for sure, never had Pagids so can't compare.

Just done the same on my S1 new Pagid RS 4-2 pads and EBC turbo groove disks all round.

Yes the Pagids are more expensive but they are worth every penny and they last longer than green stuff.

The stopping power now is excellent real peal your nose off the windscreen stuff.

Interesting, are they progressive or do you lock up more easily?

Its progresive with loads of feel right the way up to the point of locking so you can back off a bit.

If your brakes are a bit shagged definatley recomend them.

Only downside is they are slightly noisier than the standard plain disks.

Mintex 1144 everytime if you don't track it - suggest you invest in braided hoses - best 60 quid you can spend on the Elise in my opinion
