THE ROUTE

Hello fellow Furballers

Crazycats put together a potential route, and welcome any input, ideas, etc.

I'm assuming we'll be sailing to Boulogne, but if we're going to Calais, then it doesn't change much.

I've avoided motorways and toll roads, and have tried to stick to A roads as much as possible. It's not a direct route, however I have tried to pick a mixture of twisty stuff and straighter, faster bits

So, after a night in Boulogne/Calais, fuel, coffee, food, a bit of faffing.........

Leave Boulogne on N42
D127 to Guines
D231 to Ardes
D224/D1 to Bourbourg
D11/D993/D916 to Hazebrouck
D916D937 to Bethune
D937 to Arras
D5/D29/D58/D331/N44 to St-Quentin

Stop in St-Quentin for grub/caffeine etc.

Approx. 160 miles

Part Deux

Leave St-Quentin on D8 to Bohain-en-Vermandois
D960 to Vervins
N2 to Laon
D181 to Sissonne
D18/D967 to Fismes
D386/D980 to Reims

Find Hotel/beer/french kebab/bed.

Approx 130 miles

The return trip can be the same route in reverse, or if we're too knackered, and don't leave until hangovers have subsided, then it's motoways straight back to the ferries.

Slightly off topic, am doing a masters degree, so its type type type all day and night long with the slight distraction of pistonheads (bloody internet) here I am supposed to be typing dissertation and I'm off again doin this lol

Eddie, have you driven this route before?

The reason I ask is that five cars (4 TVR's and a dancing donkey) are heading down to the "Circuit de Historique" in Laon the first weekend in June and we were looking for a good route that avoids the motorway.

Shame .... fancied that, but am entertaining customers at the British GP and then skipping the Sunday to get to the British Superbikes at Snetterton ...

Just wanted to let you know I got a quote from RAC European cover for Le Mans and Furball5000.

I got 10% off for being an existing member and an additional 15% off for being part of the TVR club. Total for 7 days across 2 trips in France £38

Cover includes roadside fixing up to £150 tow to local garage and fix up to £300 and replacment car if car can't be fixed.
