The in-laws own a Freelander, but Father-in-law is a tad on the tall side and his head touches the roof... not the most comfortable on a long-ish run.

Seems to me that there is a good couple of inches UNDER the seat, which would suggest that it could be lowered by getting new / custom runners.

Problem is, I have NO IDEA where to start! Can any PH'ers advise?

Any help will be much appreciated...

Alternatively, rather than mucking with the runners you could try altering the seat itself. Either a full replacement with a more sporting version (Demon Tweeks etc) which has a lower profile. Or you could even take the seat to a re-trimmer. They can alter the foam insert to the base and allow it to drop slightly. Probably the cheaper option too....

The early Vectras had an incorrect seat sponge which meant you sat too high. I know a few people that had this adjusted so that it was lower..... just dont let it look too non-standard...

Cheers,

Paul

Cheers... not sure if he'll want the "sportier" option, especially since it's technically the mother-in-law's daily transport!

Will look into the seat padding option (could be done on both front seats so it looked right), but I figured that a lower seat runner would be better.

Any other ideas?

How tall is he - my bro is 6'4" and he used to fit in one no problems.

6'7... (was a bit intimidating when I first met him!... y'know, with Daddy's little girl etc etc!)

Jeez, 6'7

Its not a freelander he needs, more like the ultimate limo. At least he won't need those steps.

Well he fits into his Beemer OK, but doesn't want a towbar on it! He uses the Freelander to pull his boat about (sailing yacht type thingumy)

If its a 3 door get him to sit in the back with the roof off and have someone else drive. Other than that I can't think of anything that won't be difficult that will allow his wife to drive it afterwards (assuming she's not 6'7" too!).

Drive with the sunroof open and give him a cloth cap to wear.

I ended up getting a three door model for the same reason as the targa roof on the 3 door actually gives more headroom. there simply isn't enough headroom on eithe Freeby, but the 3-door is better.

Changing the seats would be a major operation, but as you say, there is plenty of room

Best suggestion is to sell it and buy a discovery which has plenty of room up top.
