Can anyone tell me why Greenpeace aren't campaigning for all speed limits to be raised/lowered to 55mph with a minimum speed of 54mph?
Someone should point out the shocking waste of resources that comes about when you force petrol/diesel cars to travel at a maximum of 30mph, for example.
I'm sure that reducing motorway speed limits in line with efficient fuel use would have huge support but we must spread this policy to the urban sprawl where "traffic calming" should be renamed "environment raping".
I realise that there will be an increase in fatal crashes in urban areas but by their very nature they can only increase up to a finite limit (ie when all the stupid people are dead).

I've been advocating this for some time..

Unfortunately, if my suspicion is true, "when all the stupid people are dead" is infinity - so you can approach it, but you'll never be rid of all the morons.. they breed so much faster than the rest of us for one thing
