High radiator fuid warning on Fiat 500
Discussion
Hi there,
I drive a Fiat 500 and a warning light appeared once only saying excessive/high radiator fluid.
I took to garage to have the water and radiator fluid checked (I assume this is anti-freeze/coolent). They checked and I think topped up.
The mechanic topped up all the water ( I thought this would solve it and it did – the light didn’t re-appear.
However, I was wondering if this message could be linked to a cold blowing radiator?
Now the water is topped up the heater runs normally warm hot when it’s supposed to.
However, when I went to the garage and they topped up water I also put it in for a check as I was concerned why the radiator wasn’t running warm-hot.
The guy said it could be a leak on the water/hose – however he ran tests (I think with pump) and said he couldn’t find a leak which is rather curious.
Has anyone who drives a fiat 500 had a similar experience with the radiator fluid warning light and a loss of warm-hot aid on heater?
Many thanks!

Many thanks – just wanted to give you update.
Took the car in for test – they ran the test in the coolest reservoir – found nothing – so I drive away merrily….
Two days later, I notice a fluid patch underneath car in line with the reservoir – I open the bonnet and look at the reservoir levels and see that the coolant level (pink fluid) has dropped to below minimum mark (I know the garage had topped this up)….
Any ideas? Could this be linked to the fluid patch?? I am quite sure it is related.
I assume the test involves applying pressure and they found nothing, yet I have not found fluid patch on the ground under car and a dropped coolant level…
I wonder if the car went on a ramp that if mechanic looked underneath they might locate a crack on the reservoir…
I have since topped up the fluid level with water only to the middle of minimum and maximum marks so that if it drops I know that there is certainly a leak....
Has anyone else experienced this on a Fiat 500???
If there is a leak, is this a fixable problem?
Many thanks!
