Golf GTI Mk7 Apple CarPlay
Discussion
MY16 cars onwards have the unit that is carplay compatible. The units are known as MIB2
MIB1 units have either a 5.8” screen (called composite media for non nav and discover navigation) or 8” (discover pro). These do not support carplay/android auto at all
The MIB2 units came with 6.5” units as the standard screen and you have the app connect option in the menu. It can be enabled post build by a dealer but costs more than if a factory option. If it has the 8” screen CarPlay is standard.
MY16 cars generally are from 65 plate onwards but there are some cars that slipped in on a 15 plate and there are some old stock MY15 cars that were registered later.
