Hi,

My '64 Alfa Romeo 4c the door seems to be rubbing against the bottom of the wing when I open/close the door.

This has caused some paint to be removed. Can anyone recommend a company who could re-adjust the wing/door and repaint.

Many thanks

If near Maidenhead you could try Alfa Aid in Bath Road. They look after my 4C, its there now for its 2nd service. They are very reliable and, as the name suggests, a marque specialist.

I had that issue on the first 4c after the first service , I’m assuming something happened at the service , dealer sorted and sorted the paint , mine was passengers door so didn’t notice it for some weeks . Any dealer or Alfa familiar Bodyshop or good independent should be able to sort it

If your paying I would st get the paint touched up and if you ever have need of body repairs get it tidied at the same time , if your worried I know a great Bodyshop in Portsmouth who sorted mine after I scraped it leaving the garage

Washed and polished mine yesterday and noticed the same thing on the drivers door.
All the shut lines look equal so how can the door be adjusted without the gaps changing?

If you open/close the door slowly (on mine) I could see that the door rubbed against the wing. I think it's not the shut line but the arc the door makes as it's opening and closing.

I'll let you know how I get on with the bodyshop (on Tuesday)

Hi,

Just an update... I took the car to St Georges Coachworks in Camberley ( http://www.stgeorgescoachworks.co.uk )

They did a great job, apparently the hinge needed adjusting & a bit of paint... They charged me a very reasonable £70

They have an awful website though.

I’ve just called in to Beechdale in Derby where my car was supplied from, and who carried out the first service, on the off chance someone could take 1 min to look at the door (and the slightly lifted PPF) with a view to booking it in.

No.... need to book an appointment a week next Tuesday just to look at it, then book a time for the work to be done.

Great.

This is ridiculous - need to now go to Chesterfield for them to inspect it, then get the ok from Alfa, then have to take it to an approved body shop (as the local dealers don’t have their own) to get the work done!

Surely it’s no more than a 10 min job?

No doubt I’ll end up paying for it all myself due to the hassle...

That's why I didn't bother going to the dealer.... When I bought the car it only came with one key, they said they would get the key sent on to me, but never did. I chased a number of times, but gave up in the end.

Alfa Romeo cars are lovely, but the dealers are crap IMHO.

I’d heard about dealers being crap before I bought the car - I understand the sentiment now.
Although Chesterfield were helpful but only when I asked to be put through to Paul Jones.
He gave me loads of good advice but it was just too far to go with the limited time I had.

Therefore, I’ve been to see a local trusted body shop (who are attached to the Lotus dealer so used to working with quirky cars..) who can do it for £40.
Not worth my time trying to get it done under warranty.

Such a shame Chris Variava packed up and sold out to Stoneacre.
