Hi Giulia QV owners in the UK. The Autocar Giulia QV (long term review) suffered from damage to the front splitter because of UK "sleeping policemen". I have a Mk3 Focus RS with a lowish profile and I've not suffered any issues (need to be careful when parking). Any feedback from QV owners would be useful as I am expecting my QV in a few months. Thanks in advance.

Original is 11 to 13cm depending on where you measure from.

Thanks. For comparison my Focus RS front splitter is as high as 20cm! I'm going to have to be super careful where i take the QV.

I've had mine 2 years and never scraped it on speed bumps. Just be careful. If they are the ones you'd normally straddle then I put at least one wheel over it, preferably both. I also tend to stiffen up the suspension to help.

I've never scraped mine on speed bumps. Just go slow!

However, on undulating roads, when the aero splitter deploys (in D or RACE mode) it is quite easy to scrape it. Ask my (now ex) girlfriend!

You won't scrape it on speed bumps themselves but have to be careful coming off one as that's when most have gotten scrapes as the weight transfers to the front springs. Also, most scrapes are more likely on a country road in a dip as the splitter drops down and is only 7-8 cm off the ground and the suspension travel is far more than that.

Some service area exits have quite severe changes of gradient and these can catch it occasionally, also if a minor road crosses a major then coming down over the camber (if that makes sense) can be close.

I've also caught it once or twice onkerbs on "end on" parking places but that's my own stupid fault for not learning by my mistakes driving

What year is your QF? Because the release models had lower suspension, then in 2017 it was raised, and from what I believe the new 19 models have reverted back to the lower ride height.

There is also a TSB from Alfa Romeo at Customer's request to change the suspension on the ones that have the raised ride height. This is being done FOC.

Mine has the raised ride height (67 plate), I've never scratched the front diffuser, but can clearly see by dropping the ride height I will have to be very careful as the front just clears kerbs when parking, when it is lowered it wont. So on that basis I'm torn whether to go for the suspension drop. Some people say the 17 model rides too heigh, I dont think it's that bad having looked at photos of the lowered cars and compared to mine.

My car will be the 2019 model, so I'm going to have to be careful! I've been watching YouTube videos on techniques to deal with lowered cars.

'techniques to deal with lower cars' jeez, just be sensible!

as people have said speed bumps wont cause issues, coming off them can as the weight transfers, just take it slow coming off them otherwise the front end may scrape, and don't drive at speed on fenland roads as you will be bottoming out and everything all the time!

the only thing i find awkward sometimes is front parking with high kerbs, as if you don't pay attention sometimes the front parking sensors don't pick that up, and you can scrape the bottom of it. i did this on my original splitter. have managed to avoid it so far on number 2.

oh and don't hit any kerbs at any speed above 5mph...

^^^ is that jacked up? Looks very high. Must be on the giraffe suspension that the 67/18 plates got.

Remember the lip angles downward underneath.

Haha yes, I need that step ladder Clarkson got for Hammond.

Interesting the Ferrari 488 tyre to wheel arch clearance is the same.

Ride seems good in dynamic setting though esp on B and C roads and no problem so far with some of the anti-car town road ramps. So far..
