Hi.

Getting a bit old (bad back) for camping but not having the space for a caravan I'm thinking a micro caravan would suit.

Are there any issues with building your own caravan? I'm thinking a demountable body mounted on a 750kg trailer would work well. It would be great if I could still use it as a normal trailer.

The only issue could be that it will need to be built with the IVA test in mind. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/iva-man...

Would that matter if the trailer it's self remained as original?

What’s your budget? Considered an Eriba Puck? Effectively a bed on wheels, but will have more resale value that something homemade.

There are plans and forums out there for " teardrop" caravans (or trailers or campers, because a lot of them are USA based).

This is a UK one that I was able to find because I remembered that my brother looked at a VW forum 7 or 8 years ago when he had a VW camper and was thinking about building a teardrop to accommodate his kids:

Looks like they have a "stickied" thread on IVA.

Here's one I built last year, I've got loads of build pics and feel free to ask any questions?

I really need to take some finished pictures of the whole thing but here are some ones when it was nearly finished off.
First two pics need rotating but that's beyond me!

This converts to a full king size bed

Now has kettle and all the AV stuff, TV is in the cupboard

Have yet to use the kitchen properly as the awning does not cover it and weather was bad when we did our two test camps.
