Cambridge Traffic
Discussion
Hello Cambridge type peeps. I'm a Romsey Town & then Cherry Hinton boy who emigrated to Nottingham.
Some Nottisham folks (who've always lived here) were moaning about the "horrendous" traffic. Made me laugh out loud. This morning at about 7.45 I drove about 2 miles from the ring road to the city centre in about 6 minutes. I reckon the equivalent in Cambridge would take going on for an hour?
I then walked back & photographed one of the main routes into Nottingham (Derby Road if you know it) about an hour later:

I still visit Cambridge reasonably regularly & wonder how you cope?

Yea, we always use the Park & Ride from Newmarket Road.
Car parking is free there for 18 hours and it's £3 each, bus every 10 minutes and never takes more than 10 minutes to get to the Grafton Centre.
No point taking a car in, it's a very car unfriendly city centre imo, and the surrounding areas are full of nasty speed bumps.
And as for the so called rush hour, forget it.

Got caught out this week last bus from city centre to Trumpington P&R was 20.30 cost me 12 quid for a cab, why stop the bus that early.
Annoying, isn't it? We've had a few trips where we've decided to stay on for the evening so retrieved the car and driven back into the city.15 years ago Cambridge wasn't too bad by car.
