NHBC building certificate, can copies be obtained?
Discussion
Yep, when issued there should always be a lenders copy. If no joy with them ask the conveyancer who acted on the purchase to check their file and see what happened to it. 10-1 it's in the file if not handed over to you on completion.
If the property is over 10 years old then it will be worthless (not that their much cop IMO) unless the NHBC also carried out the Building Regs funcion on behalf of the LA.
If all else fails try the NHBC direct.
If it is for a sale and the property is less than 10 years old you can always get an indemnity policy if time is tight but they're not cheap. (@£500 for a property at £250k

Give NHBC customer services a call on 01494 735363 and if you give them your builder name site and origional plot nmbe rthey wil be able to provide a duplicate, it will cost thought. Try the solicetors first. They are also sometimes filed with the title deeds...

The NHBC publish their standard details which a homebuilder would incorporate into their design. NHBC then check at regular intervals that works are in accordance with their details and certify the houses at completion. The warranties are then issued.
As previously posted, I would have thought NHBC could issue another copy.

IIRC they can also carry out the Building Control function. Otherwise why exclude it on a number of their certificates?
I wasn't disagreeing with you. Just adding a bit of detail
Sorry, mis-construed your post which caused me to question my own knowledge, so was seeking clarification, not intending to attack yours!
Sort of important to me as I sell/buy what you build
That also gives rise to my suggestion that the first place to check is with the solicitor who acted in the purchase as they have to keep purchase files for 15 years (I think it is, we keep ours for 20)(And it’s not chargeable as the file actually, strictly, belongs to the client).
You honestly would not believe some of the things I have found in old files when I'm acting on a sale...
