Yup, arrest any Chav's in sportswear unless they can prove they're playing sport!

This always makes me laugh......4x4 could include the Fiat Panda, but wouldn't include my Dodge Ram 1500 RumbleBee 'cos it is only 2 wheel drive.

If they ban 4x4's in urban areas they should also ban bin lorries (well actually all lorries) and buses as they are much more damaging ( and more likely to run over little johnny) than a 4x4.

...and what about those specialist Transit vans that people like the electric companies and Cable & Wireless use? They are 4x4 - do they get banned?

Since the rest of the world gets models such as the Honda HRV, Toyota Rav4 and several Subaru's which arent 4x4 - what happens there? I am sure that there would be an explosion of "specialists" who can nobble the BMW 4x4 system to disengage the front and only have the rears in uses..... then its a 2 wheel drive car....

And not forgetting that the Chevy Suburban is available in 2 wheel drive too....!!! that will put a smile on the faces of the greenies....

In fact, if we're talking about banning inefficient things from city centres, there's a really inefficient power-house in London.

What happens is, loads of money and man-hours go into it, and it produces things that lead to lots of congestion, unemployment, waste and so on that puts most SUVs in the shade. It's conveniently located on the banks of the Thames, so any bullshit produced washes away quickly.

Quite easy to find, opposite Westminster Abbey.

Sorry I thought you were talking at GLC or whatever red Ken's collection is called now, although agree that that is probably the 2nd biggest waste of money in London.

I often wonder what would happen if you drove one of these into an 'Alliance Against Urban 4x4s' stickering picket line and watch their reaction - defeat them on car knowledge!

Think how badly dragging a one tonne caravan affects the fuel consumption and emmissions of the average car - perhaps we should join forces (on this one specific occasion) and get the things banned.

all those lorries would have much better fuel consumption if they weren't carrying those trailers around
