Hi looking for a bit of help and information regarding my family car ( Audi A5 2.7 litre) over the past year been having problems with cars performance, car is currently going into lymp mode. Now we have been at several garages and had parts changed sensors changed even a new dpf, car is perfect in parts department but still going into lymp mode and have been told car needs a system update ( not from Audi) can anyone give me any information for people who do software updates on cars please! Thank you

You'd probably be better served on the Audi subforum, or even better, a dedicated A5 Owners forum.

I imagine you'll need to gain access to a VAGCOM Scanner to grab the faults; As for software updates, these will usually be dealer only - I'd be dubious of any non-manufacturer ECU "Updates" - Sounds more like a remap to me?

I am currently on an Audi forum too but I’m going out my mind and just want some help! The Audi is remapped, remap has been sent away and remap is fine! Don’t want to take car to Audi dealership because garage said Audi will just reset everything that has been done! Do you have any reference to any a5 forums or groups. Thanks for the reply

You can usually have the company that mapped the car reapply the map if you have the ECU reset.

Then there's likely the problem. Most likely one of the many Facebook mappers for £99. I'd get it reset and then if you really want it mapped, get it done properly from a company like Celtic Tuning. Even after having all the stuff done to it I'd still have the map redone. I remember on our old 3.0sd X3, when the turbos were replaced, the map was ruined.

Right ok thank you , this has been going on for a year and car is in perfect condition apart from this problem. Where is Celtic tuning? Thanks again

Agreed, lose the remap first and have a dealer or good specialist carry out a proper diagnostic. Unknown ECU software is like asking your doctor to take a look at something then refusing to take your clothes off.

Pull the ecu plugs and use some switch cleaner on the connections. Mine kept having a throttle error it threw codes relating to position and dumped me into limp home. ECU connection clean cleared the codes.
