Review of the Premiership Season!

The top 3 are way ahead of the rest in terms of points it seems but as West Brom showed at Old Trafford recently even the big boys can be shocked.
Chelsea romped away towards the end and have set the records they deserve for their performance but they haven't quite made it in Europe once again
As for Everton they had a great first half of the season but they weren't exactly high quality in the second half of the season, they did enough to claim fourth but their main rivals (Liverpool) were so dire in the league that they were always going to get 4th.
Liverpool have been crap in the league all season but in Europe it seems to have come together incredibly well, they have a formula in Europe and it works well. I really do hope they win the final
Bolton in Europe with Big Sam is a great achievement, good to show that intelligent management and grit and determination can succeed in the Premiership
Newcastle, Villa, Tottenham were all distinctly average and hopes anything in Europe next season should be fairly low really!
Bottom 4 was the best last day entertainment in years and great to see the last few matches of the season bringing out some huge performances.
Disaster for Palace on the last day but they didn't see it through in the last 10 minutes so they went.
Southampton could do with a spell in the Championship, they have survived too long in the Premiership by their fingernails and never really got established in the last few seasons even with 27 years experience.
Norwich did great things to get to the last day still in with a chance but 6-0 against Fulham was awful!
Well done to the Baggies though, good to see them staying up and a first for the Premiership that the team bottom at Christmas managed to pull it around. Survival on 34 points was a bit of a miracle though, shows that the gulf in the league is as big as ever!
As for the promoted teams I can see Wigan being the ones to stay up with the relatively mega cash injection from Dave Whelan, I would like to see them stay up as well, they have worked for it.
Sunderland as a great team in the Championship but not sure if they can hack it in the premiership though. The play off winners whoever they are ain't got much chance of staying with the big boys though.
Predictions for next season:
Champions: Chelsea
Champs Lge: Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool
UEFA Cup: Newcastle, Spurs and Bolton
Relegated: West Brom, Sunderland and play off winners!

Premiership? Well, I don't agree that the top three are that far ahead. Sale Sharks were rather fortunate to get third in the end, ahead of Bath who have the most destructive pack in the league. Bath drew with league winners Leicester Tigers home and away and beat Wasps at the Causeway. Unfortunately Bath will progress no further without a fly-half who can distribute the ball to his centres, and without some greater fortune with regard to injuries. It is, of course, a complete travesty that, for the third season in a row, the team that finished far ahead of the league has lost the meaningless final. Particularly as Wasps have "won" it again. The whole rugby nation knows that the champions of the last three seasons have been Leicester, Bath and Gloucester.

as an ex-player of the tykes, it was great to see them stay up with a great performance in the last 6 games of the season, beating both Quins and Bath when it mattered.
I just wonder how many Quins players will stay with them in the division one battle? Surely the likes of WG is going to be tempted by Premiership standard rugby?
