Dr Who gets censored

WARNING ON DALEK TORTURE
Children have been banned from buying the new Dr Who series because it shows cruelty to Daleks.
The British Board of Film Classification has ruled shops cannot sell videos or DVDs to children aged under 12.
The Dalek episode, which will be screened on television in June, shows the last Dalek in the universe imprisoned and chained by a billionaire.
He tortures it with drills and the Doctor taunts the defenceless Dalek, saying he has wiped out its race.
A spokesman for the film board told The Times: "However cross one might be with a Dalek, being cruel is not the way to deal with the issue.
"A good role model should not use torture to satisfy his desire for revenge.
"It is not an acceptable way to deal with problems of power."
Censors say the programme sets a bad example to children because it implies the only way to resolve disputes is through force and cruelty.
The Dalek eventually kills itself after acquiring human traits.
The board's DVD 12 certificate allows for "sustained, moderate threat and menace. Occasional gory moments only".

Words fail me so:
& because it never gets used
This episode has already been screened on BBC1!
It was actually very silly as well
They could have done so much with the last Darlek in the universe, but now they chose to get it to kill itself thus preventing a return. Although Dirty Den managed a comeback so anything is possible I guess??
At least they did clear up the problem of stairs though...lol
Whats wrong with a bit of torture? Kids are only going to carry on doing what they do to victimise the special kid in the playground!

The Doctor is a Time Lord and can travel anywhere, anytime, he can always go back before that and see lots more if he wants to.

You're forgetting about time travel..... Of course they can return

This is very true, as proved by the episode on Saturday, which was quite thought provoking!
Still slightly far fetched but its what Dr Who is all about!

I thought last Saturday's episode was probably the best so far - it lost all the tongue-in-cheek-ness of the previous episodes, and I'll never look at a Vauxhall Chevette in the same way again!

so why doesnt he just go back in time to stop the start of the daleks thus preventing the whole messy war thing?

Silly, because a dalek could just pop further back in time in the tardis to ensure their survival. Time travel, it's a bit of a paradox you know
If the Doctor did it first there would be no daleks to go back further in time, they would cease to be

But if they ceased to be, there would be no way for the doctor to go back in time and eliminate them. So he wouldn't, so they wouldnt be eliminated...
Reminds me of the terry pratchett quote about a small yet magical pawnshop for musicians:
"How longs that been there?"
"Ages I reckon"
"Yeah, but was it there for ages Yesterday?"

But if the daleks knew this, they could send another dalek further back in time and eliminate the Doctor before he did it....

If he went back in time and they ceased to be, mission accomplished. There would be no reason to go back a second time, even if he wanted to he couldnt as the future from his perspective would have changed.
Think about it this way, if I kicked you in the shin, you went back in time and kicked me in the shin from your perspective I still kicked you first

But surely!!! If I knew you were going to do this, I could go back in time and kick you in the shin before you kicked me, rendering you unable to kick me in the first place
I've watched back to the future at least three times I'll have you know

And how exactly would you know what I am about to do if I have not yet done it

Because in a parallel existence you had already kicked me... Weren't you listening to anything Emmet Brown said?

Using your back to the future analogy the split happened in the past, the split in this case would be caused by you kicking me in the shin, you would still have a bruise on your shin from me kicking you first. As you would not be able to know what was happening in both splits at the same time
