Mk6 GTI DSG hesitation
Discussion
Evening,
Drove home from work this evening and noticed a hesitation whenever accelerating from a standstill (foot on brake, in D). On closer inspection it appears the revs rise 100-200 RPM, quickly return to idle and then the car suddenly wakes up and accelerates. Only done a few trial runs but it seems more apparent when trying to accelerate hard from a stop. Not checked when in other gears just yet.
Anyone know what this could be? Is this something to do with the gearbox, fuel pump or indicative of clutch slip maybe?
Car is 2011, stock mk6 GTI and done 87000 miles.
Cheers,
Jam.

So if I’m imagining this correctly, this is how the 6-speed DSG box operates i.e. you don’t get immediate pickup from a standstill.
Have you tried allowing the car to creep forward in D for a brief moment and then accelerate? The car should accelerate without delay in this situation.
ETA: obviously if the car’s never done this before however now is, it’s probably worth investigating further. Mine’s done as described above for 90k miles though.

Strangely I had no issues during yesterday’s commute! The delay was definetly longer than usual the day previous though. If felt as if the gearbox was engaging, going back to neutral and then re-engaging. It was fine from a crawl though.
Only difference I made last week was filling up with normal unleaded - been using 99 RON for months. So unless the car somehow got confused

I’ll keep tabs on it. Cheers.
