Has anyone tried Skype ?

Just installed it on my pc a few weeks ago, got my 1st internet phone call from Canada - Wow, it's a clear as talking to someone next to you. no echo or delay, & to top it all, ITS FREE. No call costs

Yep.. used it for almost a year now.As a pilot I spend alot of time in hotels and I call home cheaply with many hotels having BB or wireless connections.
Many friends and collegues are on it. The latest version lets you set up an accont so you can call from PC to landline/mobile for next to nothing worldwide. You need BB at least though to get crystal clear connection.

Yes, it's very good.

As well as normal skype, I have skype out (So I can call normal numbbers back at home while I am over here), skype in (so my family can call me cheaply), and Skype voicemail.

Very good value overall.

Does it work with webcams, though? I want to get an iSight, and I don't know if it works with that.

Doesn't work with webcams, unfortunately.

Skype works a charm and computer to compter is completely free. I wonder how the telephony companies are going to react as it becomes more commonplace and we're all using their services to make free calls that we previously had to pay them for.

There are multiple USB phones out now that support the skype program, as well as skype-in and skype-out. It is already possible to cancel your BT phone line and start using VOIP telephony - making calls the same price independent of what country you're calling.

I personally use skype for audio and another program for video. MSN works well enough for video but yahoo messenger is even better and lets you do full screen. None of these programs compare to Skype for voice chat though, so I always still run Skype too!

Coincidentally I've been trying to get it to work on my Mac this weekend.

Works but you have to dial using the software - handset dialing doesn't work and there seems to be no drivers for it at all.

Also got an iSight. Its plugged in and working, however, since found out that Mac->PC video conferencing is not great (or even perhaps impossible). I think I should've done more research Can anyone enlighten me?

Even better still....you can install it on your Pocket PC and use it that way through your GPRS connection on your mobile or if you have access to a wireless network!

I used it to call friends and family abroad while sat in the garden and everyone can join in the conversation!
