Peugeot 205 Dturbo Van
Discussion
Back in the early 2000's I had a long run of different 205's. Including 1.6 & 1.9 GTi's. After crashing a 405 mi16, I bought a Sorrento green GTi and used the mi16 engine in that along with the 1.6 gearbox. That car was great and one car I wished I'd never sold.
Anyway, this van is the 8th 205 I've owned. I'd been looking for a van for quite a while. As you can imagine the vans are getting quite thin on the ground.
Here are some photos from when I bought it.
The previous owner had fitted the engine and gearbox. It's a 1.9 turbo diesel from a 406. The wheels are from 106 Series 2 Rallye. The interior is 205 Rallye seats and 205 Dturbo dash and instrument panel.
I plan to increase the boost and fueling and fit a GTi front subframe and hopefully make a few GTi's look a little foolish.

These cars absolutely fly with the 1.9DT swap in them
A transit VE Bosch pump (11mm) is just about perfect.
Remember, if there's too much smoke, turn the boost up until it goes away.
Looks like a quite tidy van. 205's are hard to come by in general these days - unless they're buggered. One of my neighbours has an L reg 1.6 automatic with 25,000 miles on it. I'd love to get my hands on it!

Fantastic! Also owned a few 205s (including my current Sorrento green Mi16
), but always fancied a van with either a DT or GTi conversion. Is there an intercooler hidden in there anywhere?
I wonder if it could be my old car? I cant remember the reg No. but it was on a j plate and when i owned it, it had full grey leather seats and was running mi16 wheels too.

From past experience, I know these make the engine run hot and cause the headgasket to let go. So it came as no surprise, that at the begining of December it blew.
I spent some time over Christmas pulling the engine out and sent the head off to be skimmed and pressure tested. The turbo although not a problem, looked well past its best, so im having that rebuilt too.
The plan is to fit a chargercooler, rather than a fmic. I have all the parts and i have already moved the battery to the boot. I have a GTi subframe with power steering rack ready to go on. Hopefully other than plumbing for the charge cooler, it should all be pretty simple.
Photos to follow.

Mines a K plate and I know of the previous owners so afraid not
Back in the day I had a couple of Dturbos and gathered most of the parts to retrofit the top mount intercooler. Never got round to it, but sounds like that might have been a good thing!
Shame yours let go, but the new and improved version sounds great. Looking forward to seeing progress.

Love the van, never owned a van, they all seemed to get quite beat up and abused.A transit VE Bosch pump (11mm) is just about perfect.

I have one with less miles if your interested, literally out the box fresh.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I wasn't sure there would be much like for it being a diesel.
I've been de-greasing the engine bay ready for the engine to put back in. I've amassed a big pile of parts ready to go back on, just waiting for the head to come back so I can get on with putting it all back together. Here how the car stands today.

Update.
Unfortunately the head failed a pressure test, which means it's scrap. I have another engine which was also a head gasket failure. I started to strip the head off, but it was so corroded, a few studs snapped, so I gave up until I had more time.
In the meantime while browsing the web I can across a brand new AMC head for £345. I don't know much about AMC, but from what I can find about them, they're well regarded. I reasoned this was going to be the best bet, rather than pay to have another head pressure tested, etc.

I started building up the new head today. Valves and injectors are back in. I started to do the valve clearances, but I'm going to have to get some more shims. I'll raid the other engine and see if I'm lucky before speaking the Peugeot.

The turbo is back from a rebuild and I've built up the 2 front shocks. The wheel bearing was shot in one, so I've had to change that to.

Really like your car, and the idea of a stealth van...
If it were mine I would lose the coloured stripes to make it even more subtle....but that's just IMHO !

The van came with the Rallye stickers. I had planned to remove them and the white wheels, to make it a little bit more subtle. No I've got the van it's kind of grown on me.
