What's the parking like there?

Supercar suitable (in terms of wide spaces / single spaces etc)?

I wouldn't take a supercar in there. It's not the worst, by far, but far from the best.

At the wrong time it's also a nightmare getting in.

Cool, thanks. Will get the train. Wouldn't want to find out the hard way!

I've driven my R8 down there no problem at all - low ceilings, exhausts, echoes and all that smile

However I do park on the end of a row to ensure I can open the car door or if possible, as far away from other cars. IMHO it's a very secure car park, never had a problem however it might be a different case with a wider car that's more exotic/appealing to the public.

It's probably safer within Gun Wharf than it would be on any of the surrounding streets !

If in doubt, and with the station so close, the train is a good (and very convenient) alternative.

I used to park my DB9 in there and now do with the Bentley Conti GT. Get there early and turn immediately left after the barriers in to the area reserved for the casino between 18:00 and 06:00

Surrounding streets are fine heading towards old Portsmouth/Southsea. If you head towards the historic dockyard then I agree.

The price of parking isn’t cheap either:

Up to 2 hours, £2.90
2 – 3 hours, £3.90
3 – 4 hours, £6.00
4 – 5 hours, £6.90
5 – 7 hours, £8.00
7 – 9 hours, £10.00
9 – 10 hours, £12.00
10 – 24 hours, £20.00

West quay Southampton is £5 for the day and far better shops, likewise festival place at Basingstoke has cheaper parking and better shops.

Park and ride is good. It's out of the way, so the car park hasn't got people walking through it. It's a big open car park and there are always spaces right at the back away from other cars. You can usually find a big corner space. The bus is quick and easy and I believe it's cheaper than parking in Gunwharf itself.

I love that they have the green lights above the spaces...saves you getting tricked by a Smart car or something!
