I've just ordered a noise maker (K&N 57i) which i'll get next week.

When I fit it, is there a procedure I have to do with the throttle to reset something?

think I read about this before, but can't remember.

thanks

Don't think you need to but here's the procedure.

ignition on (but don't start the engine) and do 5 full pumps of the accelerator peddle.

Try www.elisenet.com/index.htm for full instructions.

Enjoy the noise

Make sure you do it slowly or it won't work. You should hear a click on the fifth press

kit is fitted. original airbox is a bit of a pain to remove - no space!

the k&n fairly barks well about 4500rpm under large throttle openings. it hisses a wee bit at idle - is this normal? I stopped after a few miles of running to check everything was tight- it is.

Also, I could not get the IAC to reset (throttle pumping procedure) is it vital? what does resetting the IAC do?

I've fitted a 57i to my first and then second Elise and never knew about this reset, not heard about it in 4 years of Elise ownership? Both the cars have been fine. My mate bought my S1 in January this year.

When the weathers cooler, you'll really like that initial suction noise more too. I think it makes the car sound a lot more sporty and therefore not like a Rover 418!

Happy motoring!
