Are these cars a case of rent it on lease for a short time then jump ship ?

Seems to be a lot of them on PH and Autotrader sales, low mileage with 1 or 2 previous owners. May suggest that people get them on a 2 or 3 year lease, then give up at the earliest opportunity throwing them back on to the 2nd hand market.

Not looking to get one, but wondering if they suffer from issues that tells people they need to get rid?

Love mine as well, particularly as I didn't buy a 5.0 V8 to then worry about mpg figures.

I can get 25mpg on an open road run, and about 15-18mpg in town. Lowest I've seen is 6mpg when having fun on non public roads.

Agree, lots of people out there who 'always wanted a Mustang but couldn't cope with left hand drive', Ford released a RHD model and a lot of those people could finaly scratch that itch, once the itch was scratched the moved on to something else.

I've had my V8 for two years now, and have no plans to get rid of it - it's my daily driver, and I still love driving it every time I get in. Would agree with the people above.

Any rust bubbles at all?

I only ask as a 2007 LHD one I saw had bubbles on it after 3 years.

I doubt very much that a Mustang will have any rust to the bodywork yet. The underside will have very light corrosion to the suspension but nothing to worry about. Having said that I would expect them to rust through in about 10 years of winter use.
However If you look after it and have it rust proofed it will last for years.
The only issues my brother had had with his 2015 5 litre, is a failed aircon compressor, 2 failed tyre pressure monitors and a weak handbrake.
I have to say when I fist saw the 2015 Mustang I wasn't that keen, but they have grown on me, they drive very well indeed.
If anything happened to my Monaro the Mustang is the only car to replace it.

I remember reading some time ago that the new (at the time) RHD Mustang was outselling the Audi TT.
No surprise, therefore, that having been a sales success and the fact a lot of drivers buy/lease/PCP a new car every 2-3 years there's now a large number of examples feeding through to the second hand market.
Just out of interest there were just over 100 more TTs of the same age up for sale in Autotrader.

Mustangs never made it onto mainstream rental fleets or contract hire however quite a few did get PCP’d despite the low GFV so lost will be private cars.

Early on there were quite a few flippers and people buying them for the good residual values explaining the number of previous owners.

Like most sports cars people scratch the itch and move on, I know of several owners who describe their cars as holiday romances after driving one in the US on holiday then thinking it would make a great U.K car.

As for reliability, know of a couple of 5.0 that have had engines under warranty but apart from build quality niggles they seem quite good.

Yes, there have been quite a few that have suffered corrosion on the rear wheel arches after a few thousand miles, from memory this was sorted under warrenty

I had mine waxoyled, as the underseal can be bad/nonexistent. Only problem I've had was a failed aircon compressor - fixed under warranty with no quibbles.

I had mine for 1 year before I chopped it in. Had great fun but got pulled over in it early one morning going a bit quicker than I should have. It was also a nightmare to drive in the winter time.

Brought my V8 when they were launched, fantastic car loved driving it, no sign of any rust but it also had an air conditioning fade off problem.

Sadly sold off (a little early as it proves) but my Bullitt is on it's way

The prices of these seem to be dipping.

A 2016 GT on a reputable dealer forecourt for £25,000 today.

My wallet is trembling.

Bought my 2016 GT from Ford at end of October for just under 25k.

Was the cheapest GT in the country at the time.

I had a 2011 GT and did 100k miles. Nothing ever went wrong. I changed the oil as required by the dealer, coolant once, that was it, and that was the factory schedule. Even plugs were good for 100k and were just coming up to be done when i sold it.
I had the oxidation on the leading edge of the bonnet, which happened pretty quickly. Ford should really get their st together on that problem.
Apart from that, amazingly reliable, a great car.

What's your view of th3 best time to get one?

3 years old?

Would you risk one out of warranty?

Ive also heard of warranty issues, should I avoid them completely?

My last toy was a Lexus so not sure I'd like anything that falls apart.

I'm thinking of a mustang with power upgrades, nice exhaust, maybe get the interior redone to a very high standard.

Interested in people's views.

It depends on what you want to do to the car. The s550 has a fantastic amount of potential in terms of power and handling improvements. I want to significantly change both so decided to go with an out of warranty car and use the money saved to pay for mods.
