Defender replacement

Just an observation, with the end of production eventually the uk armed forces are going to need to replace the fleet. I was wondering what would be the choice ?

Maybe, but i'd assumed it would'nt be as utilitarian.

I'd guess either Jeep Gladiator or MB G Wagen (recently sold to Australian armed forces).

Land-Rover don't build light trucks any more, just big estate cars.

How many do the army still have? Pretty sure they canned the 90s a while ago, so only have the 110 Wolfs. They've replaced WMIK (the stripped down Landrover Weapon Mount Installation Kit) with Jackal and the too lightly armoured Snatch with Foxhound. Panther's presumably replaced a fair few of the radio equipped Wolfs, and there's a fair few Pinzgaurs as ambulances and general utility vehicles.

I really dont think thats going to happen.

New "Defender" will just be yet another ugly and shonky restyle of the same old tat they cant sell now, much less become a world beating proper 4x4.

Even if JLR did a basic stripped out version, billy basic, coil sprung, basic engine variant (which they do'nt make) of the new Defender even that I think they'd struggle to do reliably, I cant see it being ideal for the military numbers (which in reality are real small numbers)
