I have an 88 911 3.2 Sport, which I would like to do track days in. However, I'm too tall to get in the car comfortably with a crash helmet on. Has anyone succesfully lowered the drivers seat in a pre 89 911 or am I going to have to buy a race seat ?

I have exactly the same problem with a 996. Ray Martin at Porsche GB (Reading) offered to take padding from the seat and thus lower it by 1/2 an inch (not enough in my instance).

Try speaking to him and see what he advises. Ray is in charge of upholstory etc.

I think a race seat is ya only solution in the 3.2 im guessing its got a sunroof coz ive had the same grief. A race seat bolted directly to the floorpan with no mounting brackets used was the only option in a suroofed SC I drove and that was still a bit tight for me at 6'3'' with a lid on tho.

Scottster I don't know ya well enough to say get a Halfords Kiddies seat to solve any vertically challenged affliction you may have so I'll leave it to some one else.....

I might be interested in your old seats if you decide to change them (assuming colour and condition are Ok)
