Ive got a 2011 (61) Golf Match 1.6 TDi DSG with 57000 on it. Thinking about replacing with a later , lower mileage version.

Have been looking round a while. Recently a 2013 (63) 1.4TSi DSG with 30000 on it appeared locally for £11,500.

I popped in for a chat and to see what I might get p/x. Chap said book was £5000, just over. I said I was looking for 6K really. He said that was probably doable with abit of tinkering of prices. Which seems fair.

Does the panl think the 1.4 is priced about right and if I got it for £11,000 with my golf p/x'd it would be worth it? Im thinking if I do upgrade I ought ot go for a yea ror two more recent maybe? (64/65). The 1.4 is a MK7 though so the newest shape.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

It's worth the upgrade, the Mk7 moves the game forward significantly from the Mk6. It feels a lot more modern with big updates inside and a nicer drive. Much bigger step forward compared to Mk5 to Mk6

£11.5k sounds like strong money for a basic spec car though. You can get a GT TSI DSG for that money e.g. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201... . If you go newer it's worth stretching to a late 15 or early 65-plate, as they updated all the Infotainment systems to MIB 2 and added a bit more standard spec. A 2014 or early 2015 car won't be any different to a 2013.

£5-6k for your old Mk6 sounds about right

Ask him to show you the book price for the 2013 car. Won't be much more than 8k.

Is the deal/car worth the cost to change to you? 5k extra maybe?

Thanks all for the input.

Mines just gone thru the MOT today, think I'll hang on for a bit longer.

Thanks for the info va1o. I wonder if Its because Im on the south coast, cost is always a bit higher? What would you think would be right for the 1.4 TSE SE DSG at 30,000?

I'd look at it the other way round, that means a good time to sell laugh

No more than £10k I don't think, as an SE is going to be at least 4 years old now. It was replaced by the Match which offered quite a bit more kit.

Could be worth travelling a bit to save some money on the right car!

The Leon 1.4 act 150 in FR guise is a worthy alternative and you should be able to get a newer one with less mileage compared to the Golf for the money.
