I went to the show in Birmingham a couple of weeks ago, it was brilliant.
You get the impression that Pete and the band would continue playing tracks all night if they could. There were some new tracks played at Brum which weren't on the set list for any of the previous shows so they must feel there are still loads more classics to be added to the list!

I was a little disappointed with the set tbh, and that's said as someone who went to see it in 2016 and 2017.
In 2016 it was something truly unique and very special. Pete was very much in his element, his mum was in the audience (really!), and he had genuine emotion at seeing 15,000 people dancing to something him and Joules Buckley had put together. At that point it was very much an experiment and a 1 off, and from memory the O2 was the only venue they played at aside from the BBC Proms.
Then in 2017 it had a very different feeling. It was the last date after a week or 2 on the road, and felt like very much 'just another gig'. Some of the songs have now done 3 years in a row, and to charge punters £50 a time to see the same set, performed in a very similar way, just didnt do it for me this year.
Everyone should see dance music performed live but Pete needs to dig deeper into his record box or somehow mix it up if he wants £50 from the same customers in 2019.

I may have heard odd tracks on the radio in the past but I made a point of not going on Youtube to watch awful mobile phone videos of previous events so as not to spoil it.aka_kerrly said:

I must admit I posted that when I was about halfway through Lolas' theme, which was awesome and the singer was entrancing, but the set got a bit eclectic after that and didn't take advantage of having the orchestra to put together an absolutely blazing set with long transitions and amazing key changes. Then again, Pete Tong does tend to just bang the hits out one after the other and keeps a more diverse crowd happy. Watching/listening on youtube loses most of the presence of an orchestra, and even recorded DJ sets from big events so I'm being picky. As for other classics, oh my, you could string together two hours of floor fillers of just the more house numbers, like Lolas' Theme, and another two hours on top of that of the more trance tracks like Cafe Del Mar, Dreams, Insommnia.etc! But then I don't think you'd pull 15,000 people into the O2 arena with an orchestra playing trance classics....!
Saw the show last year at the MEN and it was banging, amazing in fact and then the same show earlier this year as part of the Lytham Festival (Basement Jaxx supported) and being outside by the sea, summer it took me right back to Ibiza back in the day.
Then saw the new (2018) show last Month again at the MEN and although great the new elements/eclectic tracks seemed to throw the flow of the show, lots of people wondering off for a drink through these lesser/unknown tracks.
I see the 2019 tour has been announced but we both agreed to give that one a miss already.

I went to the O2 last December to see it, really enjoyed it. I've also seen Hacienda classical at Glastonbury and Gatecrasher in Sheffield. The Pete Tong version of the concept was by far the best and I'd recommend anyone who enjoys dance music to go. If you can't make that one, try one of the others.
