Working out 'take home' salary

Does anyone know how to work out your tax and National Insurance?

I have been trying to work out how much I should be taking home each month and nobody here seems to know how to work it out!

It's also a bit of fun, you can take a poo break and when you come back it will tell you how much you've earnt lol

Take your top line. Work out what it costs to supply chips, tracksuits, fags, stella and burberry to a single mother and 4 children. Add 35% administration costs. Deduct from top line.

That should see you right.

You seriously need to investigate some tax avoidance schemes. Mine works out at an average of about 27% - lowest was 0% (when I was off for a few weeks), highest was 33% (when I was employed solidly for 6 months with overtime).

While we are having a pissing contest, spare a thought for those of us who run our own businesses, we have to pay an additional 12.8% in the form of Employers NI on all our earnings as well, i feel well kippered every time tax day comes around.

Mine does include employer's NI contributions, as I am a contractor working through an umbrella company. The majority of my pay is as 'profit bonus'.

My current tax situation is much easier to work out. For every £/$
I earn I pay out 0% tax. Wey hey!

It’s not making NorthernBoy any more prosperous either. On the other hand if you had a Penny for every time you posted on PH…well you wouldn’t be rich but you would have a lot of coppers.

I think Tonker has every right to complain about how much tax he pays... If he earns a lot of money its probably through ability and hard work than being "lucky", whatever that is. So: well done tonker. Northernboy: work harder!

Also (and I hope I read this correctly) "i have bought enough private companies..." was made in a "as part of my job" rather than a "for myself" context. That's not a "i'm richer than you" statement.
