Morning,

I'm after some reccommendations of a decent cheapish hotel. Needs parking and would be nice to be fairly central. Nothing too fancy but not a Travelodge either. Any ideas guys?

try www.brentwood-hotel.co.uk They have some private parking slots. Very central, good beer and reasonable rates.

Not easy to get a hotel in Aberdeen these days, book early.

if it doesn't have to be in town, try Inverurie (10 miles from city) there's a couple of Swallows, Kintore Arms - cheaper, and Thainstone House - dearer.

Could try also looking at the Torryburn Hotel in Kintore (7 miles from town but don't know how good hotel is) or somewhere in Westhill.

Apart from that, you'd have to look at in Aberdeen or to Banchory/Deeside where hotels tend to be dearer. Depends how much you want to spend.

The Brentwood is very good, they do excellent weekend rates but recommend you ask for a room at the rear of the hotel due to traffic noise. Parking is limited but if checking in early PM not too much of a problem. Alternatively the Palm Court, couple of minutes from town and in staggering distance from Union Street.

There's a Holiday Inn Express on Chapel Street which is very reasonable, but probably just one step up from a Travel Lodge type place. Very central.

THere's also the Copthorne on Huntly Street (just around the corner from the other one!), but that would be a bit more expensive.

There are dozens of B&Bs on Great Western Road (10 - 15 minutes walk from the centre), which would offer nice accommodation for a few nights at resonable prices. Almost all have safe parking at the rear. OK they won't have a swimming pool or gym, but will be half the price of a similar hotel.

I may be a bit late..... but you might also want to consider the Prince Regent or the Atholl

Considered the Atholl but it's a building site at the moment (but still open) but it needs to be walking distance (in smart shoes) from the Music Hall so it's a bit far.
Found out my dad's got a discount card for 6 continents hotels so have booked the holiday inn in Chapel street. And it's right opposite the pie shop too.

And the great unwashed eating their chips on a Friday night in the Taxi rank

Seriously though I stay there quite a bit even though I live 7/8 miles outside Aberdeen. It is easier than taking a taxi in and out of town, about the same price plus fall out of club/pub, grab your pie and fall into bed. As with the Brentwood parking is a premium but there is a car park further up the road but not too sure how secure.

It's only a hire car, therefore i'd be perfectly happy to park it in the middle of union street if i needed to.

Try the Patio hotel. it's down at the beach, but not a long walk from town at all. definately better than travellodge.
only problem is boy racers nearby (good for a laugh for a PHer) so get a room on the north side of the hotel cos they're all on the south side.
