I have just found some *Amitriptyline* 50mg tablets in a draw in the kitchen. They were prescibed for an ex-GF but have no instructions/information with them. Is it safe to throw them in the bin or do I need to return them to a pharmacy ?

It's an antidepressant.

You really should take it to a pharmacy as, in theory, if enough people shoved stuff like that down the drains then in the end it would enter the water supply.

Ah, the benefits of being married to a nurse. Another is the uniform of course.

It's no good if I am still in work when it turns Friday though, is it?

Neil / Ted,

It looks like I've got some anti-depressants I don't need . Chins up - its soon the weekend and Christmas isn't that far away !

I will drop them at a pharmasist on the way to work, ta for the advise.

I don't need them at present - see 'Please delete me' in general TVR', in fact I have never needed anti-depressants. Now I come to think about it I'm surprised the ex did as she tended to go high.

Ted, do you know what is worse (I have just set our NAS to do a full scandisk - all 380Gb worth), is that because there is no monitor connected (nor can I terminal server the wetched thing) I can't tell how far the bloody thing has progressed.
So I could be waiting for an hour or for ten days, and I wouldn't know the difference.
And I've got no cash to go and buy me a pizza...or beer...

You could sell them, to anyone who's desparately in need of drowsiness, dry mouth, blurred vision and constipation. Great! Take them to any chemist, for disposal. If taken in overdose, they can cause serious cardiac abnormalities, and are a considerable source of emergencies in paediatrics, when kids scoff "mummy's little sweeeties", and have a cardiac arrest.

Anyway, Bob, what did you do to the ex-GF, to put her on anti-depressants?!

I will pay good money for that mate.

And all because Finance use some shite database that corrupts every five seconds - Paradox if I didn't know better I should imagine.

Hmm, could be a cue for IT dept. wishlists.

Rackmounted tv perhaps?

Amitriptyline isn't just used as an antidepressant - sometimes used in treatment of interstitial cystitis IIRC. It definately has a couple of other uses at any rate, just most commonly an antidepressant.

Hark at Mr. Scrooge - doesn't like kids, doesn't like Christmas. You'll be hobbling around muttering "bah! humbug!" next, CarZee.

I didn't do anything, she was a manic depressive all on her own (usually high rather than depressed though). The relationship suffered/broke when she went for a prolonged stay in hospital. She decided to part company about a month after I bought the chimaera - perhaps it was the acceleration that brought an end to it.
