Help needed: Weights on 1986 Super Seven.
Discussion
Hello.
Im in the process of restauring and re-approving a 1986 Super Seven.
In the process of this, I have stumbled across an issue that might stop everything.
In order for the car to be approved I need documentation on maximum weight, kerb weight, and maximum front and rear axle weight.
I’ve contacted Caterham, but the weights they gave me are nowhere near close to what I need for the car to be within the limits.
I have found quite a few different numbers when looking up the information of different models. (None of them the same as the ones Caterham told me we’re the right weights)
Does anyone here have information on these different weights. Copies from old sales brochures, owners manuals etc.? I would appreciate any information that might help me get the Caterham back on the roads again.
Thank you
- Fredrik

How about contacting a company called Redline Components. For many years they have specialised in older Caterham and Lotus 7 models. They changed ownership a while ago so may not be as knowledgeable on such matters as they used to be but it may be worth giving them a try.
