Picked up the 993 last night and drove it home (think I'm finally used to the pedals now). Very nice.
Me and the seller were discussing tyre pressures - they're set at 36 all round right now.
Anyone reckon this is too high (or low ?)

"Higher..lower.. ooo nothing for a pair in this game"

Congrats on the purchase.

Refer to the manual.

Because of the rear engine weight bias my rears are a lot higher pressure than fronts (as specified in my manual)

My 964RS is 36 all round, and I seem to remember Scottster's 993 being similar.

I suppose I should read the owners manual sometime, just wanted to see what others did that's all.

Dazren, I know this is off topic but as your profile says you're in the SW , where do you get your porker serviced ?
I'm in Exeter BTW.

PS. I can't wait to drive round to Brooklands this weekend and point to my new 993 and tell the young twerp who wouldn't let me test drive the 993 turbo ("oh its a completely different car, and it would only spoil you for the carrera") that I didn't buy my car from him or Brooklands.

Brooklands are a bunch of c**ts in my opinion, see many of my posts in the Tiv forum to note that - repeat after me " I hate them, I hate them, I hate them..........."

Bought from and serviced by OPC Dick Lovetts Bristol. Very happy with service and would recommend them.

I know the brooklands salesman sounds a complete cnut but part of what he says is true. Before taking delivery of my car I had only ever driven a couple of other peoples porsches before, 993s and a 89 3.2, the difference in power with the turbo is substantial. But we all know the reason you didn't get the test drive of the turbo was not to protect you from not getting as much enjoyment as possible from your future purchase and more to do with he couldn't be arsed. Alternatively it may have been a Sale or Return vehicle?

I was drinking with a Cerbera (495 bhp) driver earlier in the week and he is very impressed with the mechanics at Brooklands so I wouldn't write off the whole garage.

cheers

Glad someone else thinks so.
This young prat kept promising me a test drive in a 964 (that I wasn't really interested in just wanted a comparison with) but it was never roadworthy. So I asked for a pootle round the industrial estate in the LHD 993 turbo just to get the feel of the pedals etc.
"Oh no, its a completely different car... bla bla bla... anyway its left hand drive"

Well, that's several thousands of pounds he blew out of his ar$e then...

I would also say 36psi all around except I was told it should be 32psi (hot) for the Michelin Pilot Cup Sport tyres at track days. So if you don't have those tyres, go with 36

On my 993 C4 I've got 225/40ZR18 front and 265/35 ZR18 rear (Michelin Pilot Sport, all new) so what's the consensus of opinion about these? The same pressure as smaller wheels, or different?

Factory recommendations for 993 (incl RS) with 18" rims is 36 front, 44 rear. Recent large thread on Rennlist, lots of different views but basically these are too high. Thread is well worth a read.

It's here for those who are interested - i just got a new set of Conti N2's this morning from Micheldever,
225/40R18 front and 285/30R18 rear.

Having read through the rennlist info i think i will start with 34/40 and go from there.

IIRC 1 bar = 14.5 psi so 39 psi = 2.7 bar appr.
