Audi CD-Changer Anyone?
Discussion
My mate picked up a new car the few week ago and it came with the Audi Concert Headunit and factory fitted 6disc changer.
When he try to change the mode to CD and the display shown cd1err3.
So does anyone have or has had one of these and either knows what it means or has the manual?
Unfortunately the car was purchased second hand and did not come with the audio handbook.
All help (and even flamings, sarcastic comments etc.) greatly appreciated

Try the audiworld forum (can't remember the exact URL, but it's logical). They have lots of forums and I'm sure someone there will know the answer.

www.audifans.com is the one you want. Audiworld is full of bratty americans who've chipped their S4s to kingdom come, then wondered why their turbos blew up.
The Audi CD changer was constantly erroring when I had it. Ofter you could just switch off the head unit, then the ignition, then back on with the ignition and then the head unit and the error would disappear.
If not, try unplugging the changer then plugging it back in.
If none of those work, ask the people at www.audi-sport.net

Hi,
Got hold of the manual tonight. The code CD1 ERR3 = fault in CD changer mechanism.
The Concert Sound system manual suggests pressing the magazine eject button and re-inserting, then trying again or contacting your dealer.
I would suggest the following;
When the CD magazine is loaded into the changer can you hear the CDs loading, if not it is likely to be a connection problem between the head unit and the changer as the units rarely play up. I had a similar prob in a Jeep that was due to the cable coming loose.
If nothing obvious then it would be worth getting a local ICE specialist to have a quick look as they will be cheaper than an Audi dealer. The concert head unit will work with many different changers, my A4 has a Sony changer that I had fitted when I bought the car rather than the Audi badged unit.
I hope this helps, let us know how he gets on.
Cheers,
JSG.
